One of the country’s leading private research and teaching universities, Northwestern was founded in 1851 and prides itself on its robust mixture of theory and practice. This world-renowned, deeply interdisciplinary school is adjacent to Lake Michigan. The historic culture of nearby Chicago is rich with landmark architecture, visual arts, and strong musical roots in blues, soul, and jazz.
Great Books Summer Program is thrilled to be back on the campus of Northwestern University this year. Great Books students will enjoy the best of Chicago while residing on the sprawling 240-acre main campus nestled on the shore of beautiful Lake Michigan in Evanston.
In our summer at Northwestern, Great Books Literature and Discussion Programs will celebrate the history of the Great Books by looking at classic world literature and the literature of America. Jhumpa Lahiri, Ursula Le Guin, Virginia Woolf, Ken Liu, John Locke, and William Blake are just some of the many who are bound to be of interest.
With new curriculum and a wide variety of readings each week, students can stay for a one or two-week program. Students staying for two-weeks enjoy fun weekend activities and additional exploration of the beautiful Northwestern campus on Saturday.
