Written by Great Books on Friday, May 2, 2014
In honor of our second year at Oxford, UK- based publisher And Other Stories —an independent, literary publishing house that publishes, largely, books in translation—is offering a collection of their current and forthcoming books to one lucky Great Books attendee at the Oxford campus this summer.
Titles include:
Deborah Levy's AN AMOROUS DISCOURSE IN THE SUBURBS OF HELL—Levy, whose work has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, delivers a love song between an angel and an accountant in this passionate work of dramatic poetry.
THE MATUISHIN CASE by Oleg Pavlov—A Crime and Punishment for today from Russia’s best contemporary writer.
NOWHERE PEOPLE by Paulo Scott—A prize-winning novel examines the social classes in Brazil and the importance of finding a home.
THE RESTLESS SUPERMARKET and DOUBLE NEGATIVE by Ivan Vladislavic—South African short story writer and novelist, Vladislavic’s writing is postmodern, intermingling fantasy with references to historic events, enabling them to signify with symbolic meanings both within a South African context and beyond.
Every Oxford attendee is entered to win and the winner will be selected at random and announced during the program. To find out more about And Other Stories, visit their website .
